Keeping New Yorkers Warm This Winter
Especially during a cold New York winter, a properly functioning heating system and a full tank of heating oil are a necessity. Unfortunately that isn’t always possible for residents who struggle when it comes to paying their heating bills or maintaining their equipment.
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), however, helps low-income households pay the cost of heating their homes based on their eligibility. It’s through this program that folks might be able to keep the heat running, despite financial trouble.
There are multiple benefits available through HEAP, including…
- Regular HEAP Benefits (open November 13, 2018) that assist eligible homeowners in paying to heat their home
- Emergency HEAP Benefits (open January 2, 2019) provide eligible homeowners with assistance during a heat or heat-related emergency
- Heating Equipment Repair or Replacement Benefit (open November 5, 2018) helps eligible homeowners with the repair or replacement of furnaces, boilers, or other direct heating equipment necessary to keep the primary heating source working
- Clean and Tune Benefit (Open April 2, 2018 and remains open) allows households to receive energy efficiency services, including the cleaning of primary heating equipment and other services that allow for the safe, proper and efficient operation of the heating equipment
If you or someone you know is struggling with home heating bills, please don’t hesitate to look into the HEAP program. Check eligibility for the program.
