Recover from a No-heat Emergency Quickly With Skaggs-Walsh
Temperatures in New York have already begun to drop drastically, reaching as low as 25 degrees with a lower real feel. While it’s not quite as bad as last year’s bomb cyclone, it’s still cold enough to look to your heating equipment for relief from the chilly weather. If, however, you find yourself unable to get your heat going – don’t panic!
Follow these troubleshooting steps to see if you can get it working on your own:
- Adjust your thermostat to a higher temperature. If your heating equipment is still silent, move on to the next step.
- Check the boiler or furnace switches, typically located near the basement stairs or the equipment itself, to ensure they’re in the “on” position. These switches have a red face plate to make them more distinct. If the switches are on, proceed to the next step.
- Be sure there are no tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. If there are, replace any blown fuses or reset any tripped breakers. If this doesn’t resolve your issue, move on to the final step.
- Press the red reset button located on the equipment. Do this only once! If the system continues to not function after some time, it’s time to take advantage of Skaggs-Walsh’s 24-hour emergency service!
