New York Is Moving Up to B20 Bioheat® Fuel. You’re Already there with Skaggs-Walsh.

What this means for you and the future of our city…

de96f54716c21c823faea8a6a048d8d9.jpgThese days, the importance of getting to “net-zero” is something we constantly hear about from environmentalists, politicians, and even some of our own children and grandchildren. New Yorkers are looking everywhere for the fastest, easiest and cheapest way to reach net-zero emissions. But as a Skaggs-Walsh customer, you don’t have to look any further than your heating fuel tank.

Our B20 Bioheat® fuel contains 20% biodiesel, which has a better carbon footprint than heating oil, natural gas, and even electric heat pumps. That’s because electricity comes from power plants that depend on fossil fuels, but biodiesel comes from renewable sources like soybean oil and used cooking oil. In fact, New York State currently requires all heating oil in our area to contain 5% biodiesel (B5), and the state recently passed a law that will raise this requirement to 20% (B20) by 2030.

With Skaggs-Walsh, you don’t have to wait until 2030 to enjoy cleaner, greener home heating. That’s because our company already delivers B20 Bioheat® fuel to all of our customers. Because biodiesel directly replaces heating oil, B20 can reduce your home’s fossil fuel footprint by as much as 200 gallons a year (if you normally use 1,000 gallons, 20% of that, or 200, now comes from renewables). Additionally, you can save up to $200 each year with the Clean Heating Fuel Credit (again, that’s if you use 1,000 gallons).

As for the future, Skaggs-Walsh aims to deliver B50 by 2030 and a net-zero, fully renewable fuel by 2050. Plus, these fuels will not require a heating equipment replacement or any major adjustments. That means, as a Skaggs-Walsh customer, you are already well on your way toward achieving net-zero emissions. Your cleaner heating fuel is creating a greener, safer, and all-around better tomorrow for you, your family, and all your fellow New Yorkers.
