Oil Burner Replacement

It is possible to replace your system's oil burner without replacing the entire boiler or furnace. We recommend this intermediate step in cases where a burner is malfunctioning or where a system could achieve substantially higher efficiency with a replacement burner alone.

We carry burners from the top manufacturers in the business, and we have the expertise to service all of them, including today's most advanced models.

Boilers

Any home that uses steam or hot water to heat rooms has a boiler. Inside the boiler, heat is transferred from the burner flame to the supply water. In a water system, the heated water is pumped through the home, where it transfers heat to the room air via radiators and/or baseboards. In a steam system, the boiler forms steam and feeds into the pipes, where it transfers heat to the room air via radiators.

Boilers have been made for hundreds of years, but new technology has greatly increased the efficiency of new models. One popular innovation is the triple-pass design, in which the flame and hot combustion gases pass through the length of the boiler, then reverse direction twice in order to make three passes through the heat exchanger. In this design, the heat exchanger absorbs more heat from the flame and transfers it to the home's heated space. An older, less efficient design, on the other hand, transfers less heat to the home and sends more of it up the chimney, where it is wasted.

If you want to get the most possible heat from your fuel oil — with the least possible waste — ask us about upgrading to a new, high-efficiency boiler. We carry models from the world's top manufacturers, and we'll be happy to install one for you so you can use your fuel dollars wisely.

furnace.jpgFurnaces

If your home is heated with warm air, you have a furnace. It uses a blower to intake air and heats the air by moving it through a heat exchanger, where it absorbs heat generated by the oil burner. The same blower moves the air out of the furnace and into the rooms of the home, where it warms the air.

If a furnace has been in place for more than 15 years, it is probably consuming more of your fuel than a more modern system would. Recent design innovations, such as two-stage operation, condensing and variable speed blower motors, have yielded more efficient systems that save lots of money by reducing fuel usage.

Our highly trained installers and technicians can replace your old furnace with a modern unit and greatly reduce your fuel consumption. We carry the best brands on the market, and we have the know-how to install them properly so that they perform to the manufacturer's specification.

bockheater.jpgHot Water Heaters

bock_logo.gifAfter heating and cooling of indoor air, water heating is the largest energy expense in many American homes. The cost of heating water varies widely depending on the type of system used, and an appliance that is very effective in one setting may be unsuitable for another.

Our expert technicians and installers understand how water heating works, and they will be happy to evaluate your system and let you know how much you could raise your efficiency with a new water heater. We stock a variety of models from some of the best manufacturers in the business, and we'll be happy to help you conserve fuel with an upgrade to high efficiency.

Bioheat® Fuel Tanks

Storage: Another Oil Heat Advantage
As a Bioheat® fuel customer, you own and possess the oil that is in your home storage tank, and that's a good thing. You enjoy peace of mind knowing that your family will stay warm because your supply cannot be interrupted. No calamity in the outside world can come between you and your heating fuel, because you have a supply on hand.

When you receive a Bioheat® fuel delivery, you pay only for what is delivered, with no service or delivery charges. If you choose automatic delivery, we'll handle the scheduling, and you'll never need to place a fuel oil order.

threetanks.jpgBioheat® fuel is an ideal fuel for home storage because it is so safe. It is non-toxic, and it doesn't burn in a liquid state. In fact, your oil burner prepares the fuel for ignition by warming it and then using a spray nozzle to atomize it. (If you dropped a match in a bucket of oil heat, the match would go out as if it were dropped in water.)

When the time comes to replace your oil storage tank, you'll have an interesting range of choices, including sleek European models that look more like stainless steel kitchen appliances than traditional oil tanks — and take up less floor space. And while the traditional tanks lack the style of the newer designs, they are designed well and built to last.

If you have an outdoor tank, you can cover it in a special enclosure that protects it from the elements and provides secondary containment. Enclosures are available in a variety of colors to match your house's siding.

Bioheat® Fuel Storage Tank Facts

Here are some facts that might be of interest to you:

  • Most tanks are designed with corrosion-resistant materials. This allows for long life and exceptional safety.
  • Research shows that less than 1% of heating oil tanks ever experience a release.
  • Tank protection is available and offers coverage in the rare instance that a tank does experience leakage.

Programmable Thermostats

We can't emphasize enough the value of installing a programmable thermostat in your home. This one small step for conservation could be one giant leap for energy savings!

What is a programmable thermostat? Also known as an automatic setback, day/night or clock thermostat, it's a "smart" device that automatically adjusts room temperature settings to energy-saving levels when you're sleeping or away from home. Plus, a programmable thermostat is smartly priced, making it a small investment in your comfort for many heating seasons to come.

Research by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) indicates that a single setback each day of five degrees Fahrenheit provides a 10% savings. Using a programmable thermostat effectively can deliver a return on your investment of up to 124% or more!

The newest generation of residential thermostats performs one or more of the following energy control functions:

  • They store and repeat multiple daily settings, which you can manually override without affecting the rest of the daily or weekly program.
  • They store six or more temperature settings a day.
  • They adjust heating or air conditioning turn-on times as the outside temperature changes.

honeywell.jpgWe recommend programmable thermostats by Honeywell. Honeywell's complete line of programmable thermostats includes 7-day, 5-1-1-day, 5-2-day and 1-week models. Their thermostats are easy to use ... easy to program ... and easy to read. They provide precise temperature control and consistent comfort - and some models even come in colors to match your décor!

Honeywell-VisionPRO8000.jpgOne of Honeywell’s most advanced programmable thermostats is the All-New VisionPRO 8000, which uses the RedLINK Internet Gateway to link up with other Honeywell devices for a Total Connect combination that gives you complete control over your comfort. Features include:
