Electrical

  •  How do I tell if a breaker is tripped?

Usually, if a breaker trips, it settles in the middle “tripped” position. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, the breaker can jump all the way to the “off” position, and other times, it barely moves. If you look at your panel and nothing appears to be tripped, we suggest running a finger down the breaker handles lightly to see if any move. If that does not work, feel free to call us.

  • I changed the bulbs in my house to LED, but now everything flickers, what do I do?

Typically, when this happens, it is either a dimmer incompatibility issue or the bulbs are not dimmable, so always double-check when purchasing new bulbs!

  • Does Strong Island Electric install EV Chargers?

EV charger installations are one of our specialties. As certified installers for many car manufacturers, we have extensive experience with EV installations.

  • How do I tell if my GFCI is tripped?

Most newer GFCI receptacles have a small LED diode to indicate whether they are tripped. If they do not have a diode, the device itself also has a small “tripped” button. To reset the GFCI, simply push the reset button back in.

  • Are you really 24/7?

Yes, we are 24/7 365, and are available to help with all of your electrical emergencies.

  • Do you work on generators?

Yes! Not only is our team of expert installers ready to meet your power needs, but we also offer service contracts to help maintain the equipment and ensure that the lights come on when you need them most.

  • Half of my house does not have power. What do I do?

Our first suggestion in this situation would always be to contact your utility provider. They can typically tell you over the phone if they are having issues in your area, and save you an unnecessary trip.
